Brand counsel · Domain recovery · Takedowns

Your customers are landing on a domain that isn’t yours.

Blindside is recovery and takedown counsel for ecommerce brands. We reclaim lookalike domains, force removal of impostor storefronts, and stop the branded-traffic theft: quietly, on evidence, and fast.

Currently working: 38 active recoveries Reviews returned in 48 hours

A 24 second loop of the recovery sequence: a domain surface is scanned, a lookalike registration is flagged, an evidence package is assembled, the complaint is filed, and the domain transfers.

Procedures we file under

  • UDRP
  • URS
  • Registrar enforcement
  • ccTLD procedures
  • Direct negotiation
  • Marketplace removal

If any of this sounds familiar, your brand is already losing customers.

A near-copy domain doesn’t need your permission. It only needs to confuse one customer. Most brands don’t notice until their refund tickets reference orders they never shipped.

I

Lookalike registrations

A near-copy of your domain, sitting one keystroke away.

One letter swapped, one TLD changed, one homograph slipped in. Buyers don’t read URLs. They recognise shape. The closer the spelling, the higher the conversion theft.

canonical, then two registrations someone else owns

II

Storefront impersonation

A clone of your store, collecting payments you’ll never see.

Stolen photography, copied product copy, a fake support chat. The fraud lives downstream, but your name carries the damage when the customer publishes a review.

your-brand.co/checkout

a checkout that takes real cards

III

Branded-demand interception

The traffic you paid to build, captured by domains you don’t own.

Bid hijacking, branded keyword scraping, affiliate-link fraud. The customer searches for you. They land on someone else. Your acquisition spend funds their checkout.

Three phases. One outcome.

Quiet, evidenced, decisive. From the first confidential review to a recovered domain and a permanently lower exposure: the work is private, the procedure is rigorous, and the result is yours to keep.

Diagnose

We map your domain surface and identify every registration creating customer confusion or revenue risk. The first review is confidential, evidenced, and obligation-free.

Recover

We pursue the path with the highest probability of success (UDRP, URS, direct negotiation, or registrar enforcement), backed by an evidence package built for the procedure.

Defend

With the immediate threat neutralised, your domain surface is mapped and watched. The next copycat is caught in days, not months, and resolved before it converts.

Six ways a copycat reaches your customer.

Each one is a different procedure with a different evidence burden. Naming the shape is the first thing a review does, because it decides which path can actually recover it.

Brands that cannot afford invisible revenue loss.

High-margin, image-driven categories attract copycats fastest, and brands running paid acquisition pay twice when one converts. These are the situations a review is built for.

DTC brands running paid acquisition

You’re paying to build the brand demand. Make sure the conversion lands on your domain, not a typo two letters away.

Shopify stores with branded demand

Branded keyword traffic is your most valuable funnel. We defend it from bid hijackers and lookalike landing pages.

Beauty, fashion, supplements, luxury

High-margin, image-driven categories attract copycats fastest. We catch them before they catch your buyers.

Brands seeing unexplained drops

Conversion off, attribution noisy, support tickets rising. The leak is almost always a domain you’ve never seen.

Teams preparing for major launches

Black Friday, product drops, restocks. Copycat registrations spike right before. The surface must be audited and ready.

In-house brand & legal counsel

We work directly with your general counsel, or as standalone counsel. Evidence packs are procedurally complete and ready to file.

How we practice. Three commitments.

Three commitments, and the page you are reading is held to the first one: no case list, no client names, nothing disclosed without authorisation.

What is published

Nothing leaves without written authorisation.
We act quietly.

Recovery and takedown work is done privately. We do not publish case lists, we do not name clients, and we never disclose a matter without authorisation.

We act on evidence.

Every action (UDRP, URS, registrar complaint, takedown notice) is filed with a complete evidence package. Procedural strength is everything.

We act decisively.

A copycat domain is a problem with a deadline. The longer it lives, the more it converts. Most matters are filed within ten business days.

One domain is enough to start.
We will map the rest.

Confidential. No mailing list. No follow-up unless you ask for one.

Everything a review hands back.

One private document, updated as the work proceeds. These are the sections it carries, drawn from a sample surface rather than anyone’s real one.

The watch list

The next one is caught in days, not months.

Recovery is the middle of the work, not the end of it. A mapped surface stays mapped, and a new registration against your name is a notification rather than a discovery.

A standing watch list

Every registration resembling your name, scored and re-scored as it changes hands, goes live, or starts taking payments.

Notice while it is cheap

A copycat is cheapest to remove before it has customers, reviews and a payment history. The window is days.

The procedure, in plain English

What UDRP is, what it can and cannot reach, and what an evidence pack has to contain. Written for the people who have to sign it.

A note on how we work

Most brands find us after the refund tickets start referencing orders they never shipped. By then the copycat has customers, and removing it is a procedure rather than a letter. We would rather be early, which is why the first review costs nothing and comes back in forty-eight hours: it is easier to argue about a domain that has not converted anyone yet.

The domains stealing your customers: recovered, taken down, defended.

Questions a general counsel asks first.

What counts as a copycat domain?

Any domain registered to look or feel close enough to yours that a buyer could mistake it for the real thing: typosquats (brandnane.com), homographs, TLD swaps (brand-name.co), and suffix variants (brand-name-sale.com). If a confused customer could land there and believe it is you, it is actionable.

Can a domain actually be recovered?

Yes. The UDRP and URS procedures, administered by WIPO and the Forum, transfer domains registered in bad faith back to the legitimate trademark holder. Where those do not apply, registrar enforcement, direct negotiation, and ccTLD-specific procedures handle most remaining cases.

How long does a recovery take?

A UDRP filing typically resolves in 6 to 8 weeks from filing to transfer. URS is faster (under 21 days) but narrower. Negotiated recoveries can resolve in days. We choose the path with the highest probability of success for your matter.

What does it cost?

Most engagements are flat-fee per domain or per matter, with a separate retainer for ongoing monitoring. We quote precisely after the confidential review. You will never see surprise hourly billing.

Do you handle international jurisdictions?

Yes. We work across gTLDs (UDRP, URS) and a range of ccTLDs, including .co, .uk, .de, .au, .eu, and others. For jurisdictions outside our direct experience, we co-counsel with local trademark firms.

What if the registrant refuses to transfer?

Most do not refuse. Cybersquatting cases under UDRP have a high transfer rate (around 85%) because the procedural standard favours trademark holders. Where the registrant fights, we move to formal arbitration or court action, and pursue registrar-level enforcement in parallel.
